Dolphin dreams
My dad and I were swimming around in an enormous salt water pool. We were having a grand old time, just swimming around, when a weirdo dolphin swam up to us! it was swimming strangely, kind of flopping around like the one flippered penguin Morgan and I saw in New Zealand. My dad and I decided we should help it out. We realized that this poor dolphin had something stuck in its dolphin teeth! (Why this caused the dolphin to swim badly, I have no idea, but it made sense in dream land.) Once we got the chunk of fish out of its dolphin teeth, I realized that this was no ordinary dolphin! This creature was actually Kelly Walden who had somehow been magically transformed into a dolphin! Once I realized that, I knew I had to transform her back. So I did. Somehow. It's unclear. (I definitely did not use Oculus Reparo or Expelliarmus though because those spells are not very useful.) Anyway, I transformed Kelly back into a human, and you know what? The unobservant clown hadn't even noticed that she'd been turned into a dolphin! So my dad and I laughed and laughed and laughed at her.

What's happening in my life right now
1. I went on a moving-back road trip with DJ Kelly-Kel. Highlight: baby elephant seals. 2nd place highlight: beer.

2. Right this second I am sitting in a coffee shop, and they are playing Taylor Swift. Blergh.
3. I am back in Santa Barbara right now, finishing up with school, hanging out with Dan and his ridiculous mustache, and starting my (temporary) job. Note: Dan is not this adorable in real life, because of aforementioned ridiculous mustache.

4. Soon I will be heading to Bothell to housesit for my aunt and her dog and cat.
5. After that (if all goes according to plan) I will move into West Seattle and find a permanent job that pays enough to keep me in beer, bikes and fancy shoes, as well as pay off my staggeringly high student loan debt, but leaves me enough time to ride aforementioned bikes.
6. I also want a worm bin, and I've developed an expensive kombucha habit, so I'm going to learn how to make it.

Update from California
No sea mammal sightings yet.
Some important facts about California/UCSB:
1. The pool has salt water and what appear to be barnacles
2. Generally, the only people on campus so far are nerdy science students. Hey, other nerdy science students.
3. However, around the edges of campus, (ie the rec center, tennis courts, bagel places, etc.) there are a lot of tools and whores. Hey, tools and whores.
4. I am currently attending 10+ days of orientation, including 'math camp' which we have to attend on Saturday. SATURDAY!
5. There are no hippies in my program. Not one. That's 80 environmental science students, and not one of them has dreadlocks. I might have to grow dreadlocks. That's amazing.
6. Also, there are no hipsters. I went to a locally owned organic coffee shop, and there were no hipsters. However, the barista did have dreadlocks.
7. Everyone here rides bikes, mostly beach cruisers. Except for me. I don't ride a bike at all because mine hasn't arrived yet. Tons of people ride around on their beach cruisers, while drinking coffee and talking on their cell phones. I want to learn to do that.
8. My on campus apartment is farther away from my classes than at any point when I lived off campus in Bellingham. Oh well, at least it's not raining and there are no hills.

SEA MAMMAL SIGHTING!!!!!!
First off, I love sea mammals. I love whales and dolphins the best, but all sea mammals are pretty great.
So I'm sitting at the Woods Coffee at Boulevard "working" on my laptop (ie looking for the best price tickets to Santa Barbara) staring out the window at the bay, and I see some movement in the water. At first I think it is just a duck diving and surfacing, but the movement seems odd for a duck. I continue watching, and a head pops out of the water. A seal head! A seal, swimming in Bellingham Bay! It dives under, pops back up again, and looks around for awhile with an expression like, "Where the hell am I and what am I doing here?" It submerged and must have swam away. Goodbye, my seal friend! Tell a whale to come visit!
Side note: My mom just called me, and apparently my parents are so glad that I actually got into grad school that they are paying for my ticket to Santa Barbara. Sweet! I am going March 28-31 if anyone wants to go. Kelly: If I decide to go there (most likely) I will be going again to look at housing, check out the nightlife without my parents etc., so we can go. However, if you would like to go with my mom and I, you are totally welcome to do so. My mom will probably buy us meals and stay in a nice motel. Anyone else who would like to go to Santa Barbara with my mom and I is also invited.
